Railroad and The Tehachapi Loop:
Visit the railroad engineering marvel that is a world class sight! With trains, pulled by four to six engines, as they negotiate the famous Tehachapi Loop and traverse the lowest pass in the Sierra Nevada.

Visit our Tehachapi Museum filled with many treasures and talk with knowledgeable docents who can help you discover Tehachapi's past.

Errea House:
Enjoy browsing through the restored gardens at century-old Errea House, recently listed in the National Register of Historic Places.

Tomo-Kahni State Park:
Visit Tomo-Kahni Stare Park be appointment. This Kawaiisu (Nuooah) village was inhabited by Native Americans many hundreds of years ago and into the present century.

Fruit Orchards in the Mountains:
Wander through the orchards and enjoy picking your own fruit! Taste fresh apples, juice, peaches, berries in season. Take some home to share.

The Arts:
Tehachapi hosts a variety of cultural events: visual art exhibits, concerts, literary readings, and drama in settings both indoors and outdoors. We have an effective coalition of active and creative art groups.

Antique Shops & Specialty Gift Shops:
Wander through downtown Tehachapi and Old Town visiting shops filled with treasures from the past and creative gifts of today. Many local artisans and crafts people create a variety of items unique to our area.

Ostrich Farms:
Visit ostrich farms and see how these wonderful birds live. Tours are available. Enjoy healthy low-fat ostrich meat in area restaurants. Buy a gift ostrich egg or an unforgettable feather at an ostrich gift shop.

Wind Energy:
Enjoy the spectacle of mesmerizing windmill farms that generate the world's greatest output of wind energy. Group Tours may be arranged.

Botanical Gardens :
Tour lovely Mourning Cloak Ranch and Botanical Gardens where over 2,200 different species cover more than 20 acres of Tehachapi's beautiful hills. Cement Plants

Wildlife:
See our wide assortment of birds. Raptors include hawks, golden eagles and occasional California condors circling overhead. Every season is a new experience. Foxes badgers, deer, antelope, bobcats, black bears, and mountain lions may be seen if you're lucky.

The Pacific Crest Trail:
Meet your hiking buddies and travel this major trail as it climbs through the spectacular mountains of California, passing near Tehachapi as it goes.

Bring your tent or RV and stay at one of our comfortable parks, all in beautiful settings away from the city. Enjoy the lakes. Go fishing and picnicking. Breathe clear air. View brilliant stars at night. Experience four distinct seasons including winter with snow!

Walk amid glorious wild flowers in springtime! Hike amid pines and firs of Tehachapi Mountain Park. Climb a mountain! Enjoy Jacobsen-Brite Lake Aquatic Recreation Area and the five ponds of Indian Hill Ranch Campground, all stocked with fish and great for paddling too! Relax in three city parks.

Play golf at the beautiful 18-hole championship Horse Thief Golf Course in Stallion Springs. Admire huge boulders and glimmering water hazards as you play amid the beauty of the oaks in the mountains. Bear Valley Springs Has a beautiful 9-hole course which enhances the natural landscape and is used by members and guests.

Airports:
Fly in to one of Tehachapi's two fine general aviation airports: Tehachapi Municipal Airport or Mountain Valley Airport also designed for gliders. Sailplane rides are available.
